Support Billy and Lisa's Flood Recovery

This is Leslie and Tracey, and we are starting this GoFundMe for our friends Billy and Lisa Moore.

On July 30th, 2024, they received a call from Billy's mom, Maggie, saying that both of their houses were flooded and they needed to come home as soon as possible. What they saw when they got there was total devastation. One vehicle was totally submerged and four others half submerged. Half of their property was under 4 feet of oily, greasy, horrible-smelling floodwaters. This water was three feet deep inside the whole bottom floor of their home, as well as their garage. All furniture, appliances, furnace, personal belongings, and much more were ruined and need to be replaced. Unfortunately, they did not have flood insurance because they do not live in a flood zone.

The damage that was done to Maggie's house was extensive; all the insulation under the house had to be torn out and still needs to be replaced. Luckily, they have a camp that they are able to stay at until they figure out what they're going to do with the house. Either way, if they decide to rebuild or tear it down, this will require a lot of money. While they're staying at camp for the winter, they need to buy firewood, a propane wall heater, and basically winterize it so that they can live there comfortably.

Billy is 70+ years old with some health issues and is not physically able to do all the work himself anymore. They will need to hire people to do a lot of this work. Lisa is a hardworking person who has a full-time job as the assistant town clerk here in Island Pond, VT. Billy and Lisa are not the kind of people that would ask for help, so Leslie and I thought a GoFundMe would be of great help to them.
