Help Bill Cucos with back surgery

update: Bill had his surgery today. Turns out he had 2 collapsed discs, not one, but all went well. Surgery took about 3 1/2 hours. I didn’t see him until he got up to his room which was about 2. He is very uncomfortable and of course hurting. But he started drinking and eating. He’s got a road ahead. Please keep the prayers coming. Thank you everyone who has helped and / or prayed.

Hi everyone. I have never done this before, asking for help! Bill is having major back surgery next Wednesday 7/24. He has a collapsed disc that they are removing and putting in spacers, then a cage. Down the road, should it need to be adjusted, they can go in and turn a couple of screws.

Bill needs to be out of work for at least 12 weeks. What leads me to ask for help is that during the time he’s out of work, he does not qualify for disability of any kind. His job is at a church and being that they are a non-profit, they can and do opt out of unemployment and disability. He was out a couple of years ago due to AFIB and was supposed to be out for 3 months but went back at 2 because he didn’t get paid.

We don’t want him to worry about his/our bills and rush back to work too soon. He is the only maintenance person taking care of a 68,000 sq ft building. It’s no wonder his back is bad, he pushes through the pain but it has gotten too bad and he has no choice.

Any help would be greatly appreciated so he won’t worry about bills. God Bless you all and please say a prayer for his surgery and recovery.
