Support Bill Swan's Lung Transplant Recovery

Hello, my name is Stephanie Clarke Marley and I am creating this page on behalf of my brother-in-law Bill Swan and his wife, Jeri Clarke Swan, my sister to help offset medical costs and living expenses during the recovery of a major medical illness.

Three years ago Bill was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, a terminal lung disease. As of May 2024 he was put on the lung transplant list and after a "dry run" early this summer, he got the call in the early hours on Saturday, July 27th. On Sunday, July 28th Bill underwent a double lung transplant.

Bill has always been the rock of the Clarke/Swan families. He is the kind of guy who never asked questions and just did for others no matter what. He would give his shirt off his back if someone needed it. He is compassionate, loyal, caring, and the best brother-in-law anyone could ever ask for.

Over the past couple of years we have seen him struggle though all the perils that this devastating illness bestowed upon him.

I am creating this fundraiser to ease the burden that comes with medical illnesses not covered by insurance.

Bill is currently in Banner Hospital in Tucson where he will remain for at least the next month (or longer) as his body recovers from surgery, heals, and accepts his new set of lungs. At this time Jeri will be commuting the hour and a half to and from the hospital on a daily basis. She is in the process of trying to find a month to month rental in Tucson, near the hospital, at a reasonable costs. However, with all the medical costs, this may not be feasible. Any money raised would help making this possible.

The recovery process with any transplant is a year long process. During this time it will be very stressful both emotionally and physically on the family.

All donations will go directly to Bill/ Jeri to take care of living expenses, gas, and medical costs for the unforeseeable future until Bill can come home, and all costs associated with Bill's illness once he is discharged from the hospital.
