For those who know Bill Skomski, you know he is the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone else. As the owner of Antietam Brewery, Bill has spent years building more than just a business he built a community. A place where strangers become family, where local charities are supported, and where people always know they have someone in their corner.

Bill is one of the hardest-working and most selfless people you could ever meet. He constantly puts others before himself, whether it’s helping local nonprofits raise money, supporting families in need, giving people opportunities, or simply being there for anyone who needs a hand. He has quietly helped countless people throughout this community without ever asking for anything in return.

Now, Bill needs us.

Recently, Bill went to his cardiologist and received devastating news. Doctors discovered that he has three major blockages, each approximately 96% blocked. His condition is extremely serious, and he is considered to be at very high risk. Due to the severity of these blockages, Bill is being rushed to the University of Maryland Medical Center to undergo triple bypass surgery.

This is not a routine procedure or a situation that can wait. The reality is that Bill is facing a very severe and life-threatening medical condition, and the days ahead will be challenging for both him and those who love him. We ask everyone to please keep Bill in your thoughts and prayers as he prepares for surgery and begins what will likely be a long road to recovery.

Unfortunately, being a small business owner does not mean life comes easy financially. Bill does not currently have medical insurance, and the medical bills from this emergency surgery and recovery are going to be overwhelming. Between hospital costs, surgery expenses, medications, follow-up care, and time away from work, the financial burden ahead is something no one should have to face alone.

That’s why the staff and family at Antietam Brewery have decided to start this GoFundMe for Bill, because now it’s our turn to help the man who has helped so many others.
