Memorial to Bill Hardy

My sweet Brother William, or Bill to most of you, made his way to the Heavens above on Friday, April 18,2025. Good Friday. It was absolutely the most beautiful and peaceful event I’ve ever witnessed. His ultimate goal in this fight was to get Tammy moved back to Alexander City, Alabama where both of our families are from. That is the direction this GoFundMe will take. I will leave it active until Wednesday after his Funeral at 2 pm at Hightower Funeral Home in Breman Ga then it will be closed. We appreciate everyone who has donated or Venmo’d to his account. He was absolutely blown away. The outpouring of words of love and admiration for him has been such a comfort to us all. We love the stories and seeing the expressions on your faces while you tell them. He made us all a little more animated in life.

Edit * William “Bill” , is transitioned to comfort care for the time he has left. He’s surrounded by family and friends are dropping my the ICU to say their goodbyes. We love you all for loving him.

Imagine having a friend, brother, coworker, lodge member or neighbor that you have watched battling sickness tirelessly for a few years and they have never asked for help. That's how we have all seen Bill Hardy battle cancer and the sickness that comes along with it for several years.

William, to his family, Bill to his friends, has been battling a rare form of cancer ,Cholangiocarcinoma, which attached itself to his liver initially and has spread to several places in his body and bones. He has already beaten so many of the odds stacked against him since finding this out, but now reality has set in and looking at having to resign from his job, while still waiting on disability benefits to be approved, and understanding the amount of stress this is putting on him and Tammy, his wife of over 30 years, I have decided its time for his friends, family, and people who just love his strange, witty, funny little self to have the honor of taking some of this burden off of him and Tammy.

Bill and Tammy have opened their home to foster children in need, he has been on thousands of ambulance rides to save people's lives, or been there to help comfort their families. To me, his sister, he is the ultimate First Responder. He has been the Shriner clown to make kids smile while just being his silly self. He has taught your young adults in community college to fix cars, weld, save lives, and just be good humans.

He may have sat next to you while struggling in a Masters Class, never letting you know he was getting his Masters Degree after being the child that quit school at 16. He has been so incredible to so many people over his career, that now as it needs to come to an end, I hope that all of his friends and co workers will help him be able to go fishing, sit by the lake, eat some chicken n dumplin's while not worrying about the medical bills and how he is going to take care of Tammy like she has taken care of him.

When you ask him what he wants for the future, he says he only wants to make sure Tammy is taken care of. That's his first priority. But I know William.

Bill wants to go fishing. Simple fishing on the lake in a boat.
