Hi everyone,
We are reaching out to ask for your support as our family faces a sudden challenge. In December, my dad, Bill Fenn (some of you may know him as the previous owner of a family owned local glass company), went to the doctor because he was having trouble swallowing his food and keeping food down. After a couple of appointments he was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer, we were told on Friday it is Stage 2-3. We were also told that this is a fast growing cancer, so his medical team is moving fast and aggressively. The next few months will be alot of intensive treatment to stay ahead of the disease.
Dad has lost weight rapidly due to not being able to swallow and keep the food down and is currently weaker than the doctors would like for the surgery. To prepare his body for the fight, my Mom and Dad are heading to Portland immediately to have a feeding tube and a chemo port placed.
Phase 1: Instensive chemotherapy to aggressively target the fast-growing cells.
Phase 2: Major surgery to remove the tumor, requiring a 7–8 day hospital stay.
Phase 3: A final round of chemotherapy to ensure the cancer is gone for good.
Our mom is the sole provider for the family, and the weight of this situation is immense. Between the specialized care in Portland, the cost of the feeding tube supplies, and the fact that Dad will be extremely weak for months at a time, the out-of-pocket costs are growing as fast as the diagnosis itself. They do have insurance, but unsure what they will cover at this time. My mom will have to stay in a hotel during all of these visits to Portland, which the costs of that and eating will add up as well.
We are raising funds to cover:
Travel & Lodging: Frequent trips to Portland for specialized procedures.
Medical Equipment: Maintenance and supplies for his feeding tube and port.
Household Support: Helping Mom keep everything afloat while she balances work and being Dad’s primary caregiver and "nurse" at home.
Any amount you can give whether you can give $5 or $500, you are providing my Dad with the strength he needs to focus on healing rather than the mounting bills.
If you cannot donate, please share this page. Spreading the word is just as valuable to us. There is also a Venmo account @renea_gregory3 and you can also mail cards and well wishes to PO Box 1383 Sisters, OR 97759.
Thank you for standing with us, for your prayers, and for helping Dad fight back.
With love and gratitude,
Our Family
