Support Bill Bigger's Fight Against Brain Cancer

During the week of Feb. 4th, Bill began to have a couple issues with remembering parts of routine tasks, and felt more tired and had more headaches than usual. On Sunday the 10th, while leading worship at Hope Valley Baptist in Durham, NC, it was apparent to all who were present that something was wrong. Bill lost his place in the service, lacked his usual personality, and just was not himself.
Many church members encouraged Leigh to take Bill to get checked out immediately, and they went directly to the urgent care. By that evening, they ended up at the emergency room where a CT scan revealed a mass in Bill's right frontal lobe of his brain. He was admitted quickly, and an MRI was also ordered to gain more clarity. The MRI results helped the doctors to identify a high grade glioma tumor and they scheduled surgery for Wednesday morning. The goal of the surgery was to remove as much of the tumor as possible while leaving important functioning intact, meaning that the doctors knew they would not be able to remove 100% of the tumor. Since the surgery, Bill spent several nights in ICU (he is now in a regular, private room), and has been working to rehabilitate the strength and motor function in his left side, but there is still a lot to do. The treatment of the cancer can not begin until he has gained more strength and once the full pathology report is completed on the removed tissue.
Through it all, our family has been kept afloat by the influx of prayers and encouraging words from so many who have been personally touched by Bill's ministry, and others in our extended Christian family that has spanned multiple continents. We are overwhelmed and grateful for the offers of financial donations to help deal with the mountain of medical bills that are heading our way and ask for your gifts to meet the immense cost associated with his surgery and ongoing treatment. The funds will go directly to Bill and Leigh.
