Please Help the Big Woods, Westmoreland Community in Jamaica Recover

Hello friends and family! As most of you know, I am originally from the beautiful island of Jamaica. This past week, Hurricane Melissa has devastated multiple parts of my island, leaving entire communities without homes, food, or basic necessities. My beloved country has been torn apart and devastated. Specifically, my family in Big Woods, which is in Westmoreland parish where my dad was raised, has been deeply affected. Over the past few days, we’ve learned that the majority of homes were severely damaged, and the entire community is struggling to meet even their most essential needs like food, clean water, and shelter.

Unfortunately, this situation is much bigger than what my family and I can manage alone. While we have already come together to send financial resources to feed and rebuild the area, the reality is that the entire neighborhood has been left in ruins, and many others in the surrounding areas also need help, and they need it NOW.

As a result, we are kindly asking for your support with the following:

Financial contributions - funds will go directly toward purchasing immediate necessities, such as food and water.

Supplies - basic essentials will be shipped in barrels by the end of November. I’ve shared a list of items for anyone who prefers to send goods directly to me for shipping instead of donating.

FYI: My cousin in Kingston is leading this effort and helping to receive, transfer, and distribute everything to ensure we reach our family and those most in need.
