On Saturday, May 23, our family lost an incredible woman, Mary Burchfield, after an extensive battle with cancer. Mary passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Mary was compassionate, generous, and deeply devoted to helping animals in need. Alongside her sister, she purchased the farm that became the home of Big Red Ranch and Rescue, making it possible for us to fulfill a mission that was very close to her heart — rescuing and caring for animals who needed love, safety, and a second chance.

To honor Mary’s life and legacy, we are raising funds to support Big Red Ranch & Rescue and continue the work she helped make possible. Donations will go toward the care of rescued animals, including feed, shelter, veterinary care, and daily operating expenses for the rescue. Mary’s kindness and love created a place where both animals and people could find comfort and hope. Her impact will continue to be felt through every life saved at the ranch she helped build.
