Hi, my name is Lisa. I am a colony caretaker and independent rescuer, and I’m raising funds for a special cat named Big Fatty.

Big Fatty is a 15-year-old feral cat I’ve cared for over the past 10 years. He’s a tough old soul who has managed to survive outside for while living with FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus). FIV is not a death sentence, but it does mean his immune system is severely compromised, making regular medical care essential.

Two years ago, during a routine exam and dental surgery, we discovered that Big Fatty was FIV+. Since then, I’ve struggled to get him the yearly dentals he requires—he’s too smart for traps and avoided them for years. It wasn’t until I had to move that I was finally able to trap him and take him to the vet. Unfortunately, at his last visit the vet chose not to perform the dental because he only had five teeth left. Looking back, I wish I had pushed harder, because now he urgently needs extractions and a cleaning.

Big Fatty has recently started bleeding and drooling, and he’s clearly uncomfortable. Along with the dental work, he also needs other medical care: vaccinations, antibiotics, a fecal test, nail trim, flea treatment, and a thorough combing. My goal is to raise enough to cover his upcoming appointment by September 20th so this tough old guy can finally get the relief he deserves.

Caring for Big Fatty these past 10 years has been an honor, and I know he still has good years left. I want to make sure he’s as healthy and comfortable as possible. Please note Big Fatty is indoor only and has been for awhile..
