Hi everyone,

My name is Bhaus Gray. I’m a sweet and strong 3-year-old boy recently diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called Coats Disease.

This came as a complete shock to my family. There were no warning signs—until one day, my mommy noticed my eye drifting. She took a flash photo of me and saw a yellow glow in my left eye. Trusting her instincts, she immediately scheduled an appointment with my eye doctor.

During the exam, the doctor found something concerning and sent us urgently to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. That’s where I was officially diagnosed with Coats Disease, and they also found a small tumor behind my eye that needs to be removed.

Coats Disease affects only 0.09 in 100,000 people in the U.S. The doctors told us it was incredibly lucky that my mommy caught it when she did. The disease has five stages, and I’m currently in Stage 4, meaning I have little to no vision left in my left eye.

My first surgery is scheduled for next week, and I’ll need multiple surgeries over time. Unfortunately, there are very few specialists in the country who treat this disease, which means we’ll be traveling to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles often.

This is going to be a long and difficult road. My family is humbly asking for your support—whether through a donation or by helping us raise awareness for Coats Disease, which is so difficult to detect early.
