Bhante Sanāthāvihārī is a Mexican-American Theravāda monk at the Sarathchandra Buddhist Center in North Hollywood, a Sri Lankan center. He is a dedicated student of the late Dr. Bhante Madawela Puññaji and the founder of Casa De Bhavana, an outreach project bringing the Dhamma to the Spanish-speaking world. Bhante is also the co-author of 'Buddhism in 10 Steps.'

I have personally known Bhante for 10 years and have seen firsthand how he has helped so many people with his Buddhist teachings. Over the years, I have tried to support him in his journey of spreading the teachings of the Buddha, and I am grateful for the positive impact he has had on my life and the lives of many others.

At the end of January 2026, Bhante Sanāthāvihārī is planning a meaningful journey back to Sri Lanka, where he was ordained as a monk in 2018. This will be his first return since that important milestone, making the trip deeply personal and spiritually significant. With Sri Lanka currently facing severe flooding, Bhante feels called to be present, bear witness, and support the local communities during this challenging time.

This fundraiser aims to help cover the essential costs of Bhante’s trip, including visa, room and board, a SIM card for communication, and local travel within Sri Lanka.
