Hi, my name is Beverly. I am a 66-year-old retired woman who is in dire need of major dental work. My problem began decades ago when I started to have receding gum lines, which exposed my roots and caused erosion. Just before I turned 60 years old, I acquired dry mouth, which caused me to suddenly develop numerous cavities that have progressed from bad to worse, and the progression is literally advancing on a daily basis. In 2021, I was diagnosed with Endometrial Adenocarcinoma and began a regimen of chemotherapy; of course, that caused my teeth to become brittle, and parts of them have been breaking off. Nothing like eating something soft only to find I'm chewing on something 'crunchy'...YIKES!
I have a very modest monthly income of $1,700, and most of that goes towards half the rent and utilities. I also have Medicare and Medicaid; however, unfortunately, the dentist's requests for approval to cover my dental work have been denied for much of the restorative dental work I need. I was given a $20k gift towards this work; however, that money has run out and all of my upper teeth need crowns, excluding the ones that have already been extracted due to cavities. I only have two molars left and can't even consider bridges to replace them since the implants alone are $10k each; that doesn't even include the bridges. I tried to get a Care Credit loan, but obviously, my modest income didn't impress them, and I was denied. Any help anyone is able to give me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
