Betty Steinman is a devoted psychotherapist who has spent her career showing up for others with deep compassion, wisdom, and unwavering care.
As a friend, she is generous, loyal, and endlessly supportive. Her incredible warmth and sense of humor she has touched countless lives.
I am reaching out to ask you to help Betty in this extremely challenging time.
Recently, Betty suffered a double stroke that left her paralyzed on her left, dominant side. She is currently in rehab, working tirelessly to regain mobility—she's even started to move her fingers, a small but hopeful sign.
Betty will not be able to return to work without making a significant recovery, but without ongoing physical and occupational therapy, her rehabilitation will be dramatically compromised.
She will need many months of therapy beyond what Medicare will cover and, unfortunately, she does not have the resources to pay for this additional therapy herself.
On top of that, she will likely have to live in the rehab/nursing facility for up to a year, and in order to keep her apartment, she will need to pay her monthly rent during that period. As you can imagine, all of this is adding financial stress to an already overwhelming situation.
Betty and I have been friends for almost 50 years. We met on the first day of college and shared apartments for a decade after, supporting each other through every challenge and celebrating every joy. Through all the ups and downs, our friendship has been a constant source of strength, but nothing prepared us for what Betty is facing now.
Every donation will go directly toward Betty's continued physical therapy and help cover her rent while she focuses on healing.
Your support, no matter the amount, will make a real difference in her life. Betty will greatly appreciate whatever you can do.
