Support Betty Burris' Medical Debt Relief

Hi, my name is Mark Burris and we are fundraising for my mother, Betty Burris.

Mom, a retired Rockwood School District teacher at Geggie Elementary, had a series of strokes in July of 2023. In addition to the direct stroke damage, it appears to have triggered serious dementia.

She is currently in a nursing home, and is unable to care for herself at all. She can’t get out of bed without full assistance, and is dependent on a feeding tube for most of her nutrition.

She had excellent insurance, but did not have long term care insurance, so after 21 days of insurance coverage, her skilled nursing care became private pay. Her teacher retirement is enough to cover that moving forward, but there was a significant gap for the first few months of skilled nursing care while we were trying to keep up all of her normal living expenses in hope that she would be able to recover enough to return to her home that now needs to be paid for her to continue to get the level of care that she needs. There are also a large number of bills related to her stay in the hospital that I am unable to pay.

Any funds we receive will ONLY be used to get bring her account current with the nursing facility, and then to pay off the debt from her hospital stay.
