If you know my partner Aryel and I, you know that we love our cats endlessly. Our cat, Betty Boop, has an unknown heart condition. Our vet has told us she may have an enlarged heart, which can cause various health issues. We like to say that her heart is so full of love, that’s why it’s too big. We are taking her to a cardiologist to look further into this. She’s had trouble with her breathing, issues with her heart rate dropping too low, and some seizure-like symptoms.

As cat parents, we try to do all that we can to make sure our kitties stay happy and healthy. This has been very difficult for us to see one of our babies not feeling well.

Unfortunately, vet procedures aren’t cheap. The cardiology consultation alone costs $550. Then comes the follow up appointments, possibly medications, additional testing, and so forth. This has added a lot of financial stress for us, on top of the emotional toll of Betty being in poor health.

Asking for this kind of help is difficult for us, but at this time it feels necessary. We want to do all that we can to make sure Betty is okay, but certain things are financially out of our reach right now. Community is what we need now more than ever.
