Betty and Wes, beloved neighbors, family, and friends of many here in Upstate SC are facing an unimaginable journey as Wes recovers from multiple injuries from a fall.

Earlier this month, Wes was installing a sound system at a church in the low country of SC when his ladder began to unexpectedly retract. Wes fell approximately 30 feet, breaking ribs, his lower back, and his pelvis. He also suffered a concussion.

Wes was initially transferred to a hospital in Savannah but is now at an in-patient rehabilitation center in Greenville SC where he will receive therapies to be able to move and walk again. After Wes completes the in-patient portion of his rehabilitation, he will continue with either outpatient or in-home therapies as he continues to heal.

The expected cost of Wes' hospital and inpatient rehabilitation stay is estimated to be close to $100,000. Betty and Wes have also faced many unexpected expenses: gas expenses as Betty drives back and forth visiting Wes, expenses to prepare their home for a wheelchair to safely maneuver, and more. While the church that Wes' accident occurred at has accident insurance, it is slow to come through and Wes does not have health insurance.

Funds raised in this fundraiser will go towards helping Betty and Wes worry about what matters most: getting Wes back on his feet.
