Hello! I am Alicia and I am reaching out to ask for support for my best friend, Betsy. We met in 5th grade, and have been inseparable ever since- over 30 years!

Betsy has dedicated her life to caring for others. I know they always say that on these fundraisers, but anyone who is lucky to have her in their life knows how true this is. She has always been selfless, and put others’ needs before her own. As the main caregiver to her son, that dedication is shown daily. Whether it be emotional, financial, needing a shoulder to cry on, or needing a problem solved, she is always there.

2025 has been an extremely difficult year. In January, she was laid-off after the company she was working for was acquired. In March, her dear friend Dana passed away, leaving behind 5 children. Betsy has been their rock through her illness and subsequent passing, and continues to support them in every way she can. In May, her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. Betsy went through a very difficult divorce a few years ago, but stayed her positive, helpful self during that heartache. She now has a wonderful man by her side and feels very blessed to have his love and support.

At the end of August, Betsy was diagnosed with stage 0 DCIS breast cancer. While she does not have to undergo chemo or radiation (thankfully!), she is facing 2 major surgeries (one in a month, and another in 4-6 months).

She has been working part-time since April, but because of policy limitations, she is ineligible for short-term disability. This will create a hardship, especially with the increased costs caring for her son and managing his medical needs.

All donations made will go directly to Betsy for monthly bills and medical expenses that won’t be covered by insurance.

Betsy has spent her entire life lifting others up. Now it’s our chance to lift her. Let’s show her how much she means to us and remind her she’s not alone in her rare time of need. It’s my goal to remove a layer of financial stress, so she can truly rest and recover from this life-changing event.
