Betsy and I met in our twenties while working together, and she has always been a caring and resilient friend. In October 2025, Betsy was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, a diagnosis that turned her world upside down. As if that wasn’t enough, she lost her father right as she began her treatment. Betsy had been his caregiver, and although her siblings have been there for her, Betsy’s facing this battle largely on her own. Despite these hardships, Betsy has shown incredible bravery and determination, continuing to care for herself and face each day with courage.

The financial burden of cancer treatment is overwhelming. Betsy is struggling with medical debt, everyday living expenses, groceries, and the costs of caregiving as she prepares for her first surgery. She has friends who want to help, but the challenges are immense and ongoing. I live in Georgia while Betsy is in California, so organizing this GoFundMe is my way of supporting her from afar and making sure she doesn’t have to carry this weight alone.
