Help My Aunt Regain Her Artistic Vision: Support for AI Glasses for the Blind

I’m reaching out with a heartfelt plea for help on behalf of my Aunt Beth, a talented artist who has been battling the challenges of Retinitis Pigmentosa, a degenerative eye disease, for many years. She is now in the advanced stages of this condition, with only a small amount of vision remaining. Despite the severe loss of her sight, she has refused to let go of her passion for painting. In fact, her art has become a powerful expression of resilience, creativity, and determination.

However, as her vision continues to deteriorate, creating art has become increasingly difficult. My Aunt's once-vibrant world of colors and clarity has slowly faded, leaving her with only a limited perception of what she can see. Despite these obstacles, she continues to paint because it’s not just her craft—it’s a source of emotional healing and purpose in her life.

There is a revolutionary new technology that could help her in ways words can barely describe: AI-powered glasses for the blind. These glasses use state-of-the-art technology to provide real-time audio feedback about her surroundings, descriptions of people around her,helping her navigate the world and gain a clearer understanding of what she sees (or doesn’t see). With these glasses, she would be able to receive descriptions of her paintings and environments, enhancing her ability to paint and even providing her with the ability to “see” the world through the lens of technology, that will allow her to continue with her love of cooking. These glasses could empower her to keep creating, exploring, and living life to the fullest, despite the challenges her condition presents.
