Hi, I’m Beth & my world has changed drastically in a very short amount of time.

I’ve been a hairstylist since 2017. It’s a career that I’ve found impossible to walk away from because of how much I love it. I’ve done everything from working behind the chair, to teaching for a color company, to helping people learn to care for their curls. Connecting with people the way only a hairstylist can has been one of the highlights of my life.

Recently, I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, a rare neuromuscular disease. It causes sudden muscle weakness in my arms, legs, and (at worst) can even affect my ability to breathe. Because the symptoms in my extremities can come on without warning, standing for long stretches while frequently lifting my arms has become unsafe. As things are now, without the right adaptive equipment, I can’t work without risking injury, hospitalization, or worse.

My care team recommended an elevating electric wheelchair so I can reach clients without frequent standing and energy expenditure. It would allow me to regain my independence and work without risking a medical setback. Unfortunately, insurance won’t cover what I need, and the cost is more than I can manage alone.

I’m asking for help because I want to keep doing the job I love and provide for my family. Any donation would be greatly appreciated and go towards the equipment I need to help me work safely again.
