Help Heal Baby Bear: A Cat's Plea for Support

Hi, I'm Baby Bear, a 2-year-old kitty, and I need your help! My human, Beth, loves me so much, but we've been through a scary time. I started to urinate frequently and sometimes it was bloody. She booked an appointment for me at a vet that would take payments. We found out I had Stuvite Urolithiasis AKA bladder stones, which are mineralized crystals found in the bladder. The vet gave us some medicine, and had her change my diet. For a little while, I felt better, but then a heatwave hit, our AC broke, and I got worse—way worse. I couldn’t pee at all, and I was crying out in pain. Beth was so scared for me, it was late so there was only one place she could take me at the time.

Beth took me to an emergency clinic called MedVet because no other vets could see me "after hours" . The doctors there said my bladder was so swollen I was in danger of a cardiac arrest! They needed to do surgery and keep me for 48-72 hours to clean my blood and help my kidneys. The cost was $3,200 for the hospitalization, but Beth only had $850 from her disability check to cover the surgery to remove the blockage. She’s been struggling with money because of rising costs and her own health issues—she’s on dialysis four to five times a week and can’t work. Beth cried so hard that night, thinking she might lose me, especially since she’s been fighting kidney problems since she was eight years old.

The vets at MedVet fixed the blockage, and the next day, Beth found another clinic to give me the follow-up care I needed, like IV fluids and a catheter. I’ve been home for three days now, and I’m peeing a little better, but I’m still in some pain. Beth’s giving me my medicines and buying special food and vitamins to keep those pesky crystals away, but it’s really expensive. She got a small loan to cover some costs, but she’s out of funds and waiting for her next SSI check, which isn’t enough to keep up with everything I need. My next vet visit is in a week, and Beth’s saving what little she has to pay for it.

Your support can make a huge difference for me and Beth. Any donation will help me get the care I need to stay healthy and keep me purring by Beth’s side. We’re both fighting hard, and we’d be so grateful for your help. Thank you from the bottom of my furry heart!
