Support Beth's Battle with Thyroid Cancer

I am wanting to help a coworker who recently found out she has thyroid cancer. Beth works full time as a nurse. She is the mother of 4 children: ages 9, 13, 15, & 18. Things are moving pretty quickly since her diagnosis, and she has to have surgery to remove her thyroid on June 18. Beth has been a nurse for many years, but she has not been at her current job for a full year yet, which means her accumulated sick time and vacation hours are limited. She plans to be off of work for 3 weeks. Prior to knowing she had cancer, she planned a family vacation to take her children to Myrtle Beach. Of course her kids understand that their mom’s health is more important than a vacation, but she really wanted that time and memories with her family. It may sound trivial to worry about canceling a family beach trip, when you have a bigger health issue to deal with, but that is working mom guilt for you. I am hoping we can raise enough money, that Beth and her family can go to the beach together during the 3rd week of her time off from work. Let’s give this family a little light at the end of the tunnel, and a break from all the stress that cancer brings.
