Support Beth's Battle for Accessibility and Independence
Donation protected
I’m Beth and a lot of you probably remember my campaign from just over 2 years ago. I became disabled and an ambulatory wheelchair user after 4 pills of an antibiotic class called Fluoroquinolones. Two years later, countless rounds of OT and PT, hundreds of doctors appointments and dozens of med trials - I am still mostly bedridden and living with severe chronic pain and endless other symptoms that keep piling up. I cannot work, drive, or leave the house independently.
I am not eligible for disability due to work credit lack but I have an attorney and my fight for social security benefits is ongoing, with 2 denials under my belt so far. I have no regular income aside from selling the occasional craft that I make but my needs continue to pile up, especially as I settle further into my disability.
Accessibility is extremely expensive - just some of the things needed are a new house ramp, a new mattress, adaptive equipment for my vehicle, a wheelchair lift for my vehicle, and other varying mobility aids. This, in and of itself, is thousands of dollars. My current donation goal does not nearly cover everything and may be changed.
I am asking for continual community support as I navigate my disability further, adjust, and continue to work hard to regain some aspect of independence- something I lack almost entirely right now. I am also trying to prepare for the bill that will go into effect next year, as that will greatly impact me as a disabled Medicaid recipient.
I am endlessly grateful for my community support and network and I am grateful to feel safe enough to ask for help. Deep gratitude to anyone and everyone who gives, shares, and hears my story. I appreciate you.
