This is my sister Beth. She is a terrific wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and godmother. She has a strong faith in Jesus Christ. She is a hard worker and has a great sense of humor. She is fun to be with and gives the best Thanksgiving dinners for our growing family.
She has been fighting ovarian cancer since February. If you find it in your heart - she is in need of prayers and some help with medical bills that have been coming in. I am sharing her story and her message in her words:
"You have cancer"... Something you never want your doctor to say to you. Back in February I was set to go in for gallbladder removal and hernia repair. CT scans found two 12 inch tumors in my ovaries. On top of that, it had spread to my stomach wall. I never had symptoms of pain, just my stomach started bloating around Christmas. In matter of 8 weeks, my stomach was so bloated. i looked like I was nine months pregnant. I had my " debulking" surgery at end of February. Total hysterectomy, lymph nodes removed, along with 6 liters of fluid and lost 70 lbs through my surgery. I have stage 3a ovarian cancer. I've had port put in have had my 5th round of chemo last week. I usually stay private about things but with this I have messages to share with everyone. One- ladies, I had no symptoms other than bloated stomach. No pain, no symptoms. I've read ovarian cancer is silent killer. Over 60 percent of the time, when diagnosed, it's in later stages. Around Christmas, I could have dismissed it as over eating. I'm glad I went to doctors to get check out. TMI alert- I had pap smear test 3 weeks prior and it came back clear. Only way to see it, is through CT scans. So no matter how minor your symptoms are, go get checked out.
Point number 2- questions of how are you so positive/ calm after being diagnosed. My answer is my faith. I was always religious but now my relationship with God is stronger than ever. It has provided me strength and calmness beyond what I can explain. It's an awesome feeling what you see is God's presence in my life. I can walk through this without fear.
