10/8- As of 10/8 I am stopping donations through this platform and asking that you donate directly to the boots on the ground organizations in Western NC as needs are changing daily and they can pivot more quickly to meet those needs as they are in day to day contact with those most severely impacted.

9/30 UPDATE 3- thank you for continuing to donate, you all have me in tears. I am beyond thankful to each and every one of you! I’m planning to come back with supplies initially on Wednesday and then we will assess and go get more or donate the additional funding to local organizations helping our fellow Western North Carolinians.
9/30 UPDATE 2- thank you for helping me meet my second goal of $700. I appreciate it more than I can say. I’ll continue to post updates here and share what your donations go to (transparency is very important to me)
9/30 UPDATE 1- thank you for helping me meet my initial goal of $500, your generosity is beyond appreciated!
Hi! My name is Bethany and I live in Western NC- Haywood County and we are experiencing devastating flooding and loss of life. I have family and friends in many of the surrounding counties. Supplies are scarce and a lot of people are without water, power, and cell service.
I was able to get out of the area late yesterday and will be heading back Wednesday or later in the week as long as the roads are safe and gas is available. I will be using the money collected from this to buy supplies such as bottled water and nonperishable food items on our way back into town. I will also be finding agencies to volunteer with when I get home. What isn’t used to buy supplies will be used to help those who will be out of work buy gas, find a place to stay, and/or donated directly to the community through an local agency.
So many people I know will be without an income due to the devastation of local small businesses and inability for tourist to come to the area. Income in WNC is heavily focused on tourism.
