In the fall of 2024, my friend Beth was diagnosed with a vestibular schwannoma, a benign tumor that develops on the main nerve connecting the inner ear to the brain. After monitoring it for over a year, doctors determined in late 2025 that the tumor had grown and needed to be removed.

On February 17, Beth underwent a translabyrinthine tumor resection, a procedure to remove a 6 millimeter tumor attached near her ear canal. The surgery was successful, and we are incredibly grateful for that. However, her recovery has been far more difficult than anyone anticipated.

The procedure has left Beth deaf in one ear, and she continues to suffer from severe vertigo and dizziness. For her safety, she will need to use a cane moving forward. What was expected to be a challenging recovery has become a long and physically exhausting journey.

Her husband, Rich, has needed to step away from work to care for her as they navigate this uncertain season. They have also had to remain in Washington longer than expected due to complications and a longer hospital stay, creating additional travel and medical expenses.

I have started this GoFundMe account to help cover travel costs, extended medical expenses, and lost wages during this unexpected recovery. All money will go directly to Beth and her family.

Everyone who knows Beth knows how much she has poured into the lives of others over the years. She has faithfully served and supported countless youth and families, always showing up with compassion, encouragement, and strength. Let’s show up for her now in her time of need.
