Support Mrs. Drase Through a Season of Serious Medical Challenges

Our beloved kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Beth Drase, has spent years pouring love, energy, and endless patience into her students. Now she is facing a series of unexpected and serious medical challenges, and we are asking our community to come together and support her during this incredibly difficult time.

What Has Happened

In mid-October, during fall break, Beth experienced a sudden and frightening cardiac episode while out of state. She was rushed to the ER, and after returning home, she continued to feel unwell for several weeks. When she was finally able to see a cardiologist, the situation became urgent—she was immediately sent to the ER to be admitted. An angiogram performed on Halloween revealed a 90% blockage in a major artery (the LAD), requiring a stent right away.

While hospitalized for her heart, additional scans and bloodwork revealed large ovarian masses that are concerning for malignancy. She was referred to an oncologist, and it was determined that she needs surgery as soon as possible to remove the masses and determine whether further cancer treatment will be required.

What She’s Facing Now

Her surgery is scheduled for December 15, and doctors have told her she must remain off work for six weeks while she recovers. While winter break covers part of that time, she will still miss the week of surgery and several weeks in January. She is hoping to return to the classroom around January 26, but that depends on the results of surgery and any follow-up treatment she may need.

Even throughout these challenges, she continues to think about her students first—heartbroken to miss time with them, but committed to doing what’s necessary to recover and return healthy and strong.

Why We’re Raising Funds

The financial strain of multiple emergencies—ER visits, cardiology care, major surgery, oncology consultations, and the possibility of additional treatment—is overwhelming. Time away from teaching adds another layer of stress that no educator should have to face alone.

Travel for medical appointments

Lost income during recovery

Any unexpected expenses related to her health
