Support Berry's Life-Saving Surgery
UPDATE 11/21/24 @ 2:30pm
Got a call back from PAWS Chicago, and they said they can do the emergency spay. It will only cost $300. I'm closing the fundraiser.
Thank you everyone<3
UPDATE 11/21/24 @ 9am
I applied to CareCredit, a prominent emergency healthcare line of credit provider, but I was denied.
However, my local vet told me someone else is failing to respond regarding an appointment for their dog, so we may have a shot at surgery today! I was quoted $1,016 if we can get her in today at Oz Animal Hospital.
Please, Please, PLEASE donate if you can.
I'm not sure how much longer this can wait.
Antibiotics can only do so much.
With cats, everything can seem fine, until it's not....
UPDATE 11/20/24 @ 6pm
This is hard to admit, but we couldn’t make it to the clinic on time. It was difficult to try and find a ride, and we had to wait until my neighbor was available to borrow their car.
An Uber to the clinic was nearly $50 each way, and wouldn’t made even the low cost surgery unaffordable. So I opted to wait and drive there myself. Crosstown traffic was so bad, but not as bad as this....
Because two of the Chicago area low cost clinics operate under similar names, we went to the wrong clinic.
I was told by staff this happens FREQUENTLY, and it’s very sad and frustrating for everyone.
This is now a scramble on my part and the part of Oz Veterinary Hospital staff to try and book another surgery at an equally low cost at a non-emergency facility (ER prices are WAY higher). But there’s a distinct possibility this situation raises the cost significantly.
My heart is a little broken, but we have to keep trying…
UPDATE 11/20/24 @ 1:20pm
A surgeon from the Animal Welfare League is willing to come in this week and do the surgery for only $400. That puts us at over 50% of the way there. The original estimate was closer to 5k
Say hello to berry. she’s a 2 year old, sassy, cutie-pie diagnosed with pyometra aka a bacterial infection of the uterus. Berry needs an emergency histerectomy, or will likely be put down. Giving her antibiotics for now, but it may not be enough. Please help us.
