Many of you know my older brother, Berry. He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth. My mom has always been his champion, taking care of him and making sure he has the best life possible. And she's done a damn good job doing it!
As Berry has gotten older, his needs have changed, and we now have two wonderful people who come in twice daily, 7 days a week, to get him up and ready for the day, and they come back at night to get him cleaned up and back in bed. He absolutely adores them, and they have the best time cutting up, laughing, and talking about being a poor Falcons fan! :)
After many months and countless hours of work, I have been able to secure a NOW Medicaid Waiver that will subsidize his needs in the future. However, the wheels of bureaucracy turn very slowly, and now with the government shutdown, we have a serious gap in funding. His attendants have been very kind and have been still coming in daily without pay because they truly love Berry.
My goal is to raise enough for their salaries until the waiver is in full effect. Any money collected over the $4000 goal will go towards an electric Hoyer lift (an item that Medicaid does not cover).
Thank you for considering supporting my Bub.
