Hello my name is Brenda Smith and I have started this fund for Bernie Shepherd. Bernie is married to my cousin Beth Shepherd. He has been in the hospital now for less than a month fighting Covid Pneumonia. He has had his ups and downs but was starting to improve.

After some recent tests is has now been determined that he might be in need of a lung transplant.

His first hurdle was to find a hospital to take him for his more specialized care.

There is a possibility Doctors will have to put him on an ECMO machine while awaiting a match for the lung transplant. If necessary. Hopefully he can get the care he needs for his lungs to heal and not worsen. This hospital is 1 1/2 hours from their home so along with the medical expenses, there will be travel and lodging expenses for the family to be near. His wife Beth will be going through so much stress during this time, so anything we can do to help her during this time will be a blessing.

Bernie is a healthy 44 year old with no prior health issues. Works hard, works out and lives a healthy lifestyle.

Bernie is the Ultimate family man. He is married with a young daughter.
