Dear Friends and Supporters,

Berkshire HorseWorks, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has served more than 4,200 at-risk youth, active-duty service members, veterans, families, and first responders over the past 12 years. Through the Eagala Model of Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, Equine-Assisted Learning, Equine-Assisted Team Building, and other therapeutic activities with rescued horses, we help people heal, learn, and grow.

Recently, Berkshire HorseWorks expanded into education with our Horse Powered Reading and Math curricula, designed to address literacy and learning gaps in our community. All of our work is experiential and ground-based, and has proven highly effective for individuals experiencing:

  • PTSD and suicidal ideation
  • Depression and anxiety
  • ADHD and Autism
  • Anger management and behavioral challenges
  • Addiction and low self-esteem

Our evidence-based programs serve the Berkshires, New York, and New England, and are funded through grants, donations, and corporate team-building.
Every therapy horse who partners in this sensitive work—Zephyr, Spirit, Gunnar, William, 007, Elektra, Bolt, Rodeo, Nellie, Wildflower, and Star—has been rescued from a dark fate and given a second chance. Many carry their own medical or behavioral challenges, often mirroring the traumas of the people whose lives they help transform.

Today, we are asking for your support to:

  • Fund therapy and life-skills scholarships for young children and veterans who urgently need care but cannot afford it
  • Provide feed, essential medications, and ongoing care for our herd, so they can continue this powerful work

Your gift (no matter what size) helps ensure that those who are suffering quietly can receive services free of charge or on a sliding scale, and that our four-legged partners can remain healthy, safe, and able to do what they do best—help people heal.

Thank you for standing with us over the past 12 years, for believing in the power of the human–horse connection, and for helping those living with trauma realize their potential, build confidence and resilience, and truly thrive.
