Bentley, 14 year old brother oldest of 4 siblings. Was admitted into the hospital on February 27, 2026, with appendicitis with perforation. He spent 14 days in the hospital, finally being released on March 12, 2026. Unfortunately, on March 25, 2026, we found ourselves back in the hospital, facing another difficult chapter in Bentley’s health journey.

While we were in the hospital, Bentley had a PICC line placed right away the first night he was admitted. This was the safest way to provide him with IV antibiotics for the next 10+ days. About 6 days in, his pain became strong again, so he was taken for an ultrasound. Within hours, he was being prepped for surgery to place a drain tube to remove the fluid that had built up around his stomach area and appendix. He had the drain tube for 4 days before it was removed, and pounds of fluid were drained from him within the first day.

The past few weeks have been incredibly challenging for our family. We’ve been traveling back and forth from the hospital to home, and even to doctors’ appointments. I haven’t been able to work, and medical bills, along with other expenses, are piling up. Bentley has two siblings at home who miss him dearly, and another brother who visits when he can. While my husband and I stay at the hospital with Bentley, his siblings are staying with their aunt, trying to keep some sense of normalcy.

Bentley has been so strong through this whole process of being admitted into the hospital. He misses his friends as much as his friends miss and worry about him. Trying to keep Bentley from falling into a depressive state and keeping his mind busy has been a struggle, especially since he’s usually out spending time with friends and family, or video gaming with his online friends who live out of state.

Any support would mean the world to Bentley and our family as we go through this journey together, staying strong and keeping our spirits high. We’re juggling hospital stays, trying to spend time with our other children, working when possible, paying bills, and keeping up with everything needed at home. Your love, thoughts, prayers, and any help you can give are deeply appreciated. Thank you for reading Bentley's journey to recovery, reposting, prayers, sending love, and donations.

Thank you,
The Jacobs Family.
