About four years ago, I began experiencing serious issues with my left foot, which eventually led to having about half of my foot removed. Since then, I have used all of my savings, including my 401k, and relied on both short-term and long-term disability to get by. Despite my best efforts, I returned to work three times, only to have new sores develop and be removed from duty again.

Most recently, the infection and damage to what remained of my limb became so severe that I had to undergo a below-the-knee amputation. Now, I have about half a leg on my left side. The recovery time for this surgery is expected to be around six months, and I currently have no income. The last of my savings has gone toward rent and medical fees, leaving me in a very difficult position.
