On April 29 2024, Ben became ill and began vomiting, which resulted in a one in a million fluke injury. He ruptured his esophagus resulting in the collapsing of his left lung which subsequently filled with infectious fluids and toxins. After two simultaneous emergency surgeries, two chest tubes, an esophageal stent and more than five weeks in the hospital, Ben is on the road of recovery. Unfortunately, the trauma his body experienced, took a toll on his heart, which caused another issue of treatment and care. At the end of day what’s most important is that our brother is still here with us.
If you know Ben then you know that he is self employed. He has worked hard as a flooring contractor, barber, and a personal trainer. That being said, we know that if you’re not working you’re not earning, and this is the goal of this fund. Recovery comes with a cost and we all know insurance only covers so much. Ben and his immediate family is facing up to six months of no income and savings being depleted quickly with just living expenses alone.
If you have been a friend, brother, sister, or client of Ben’s, I’m sure you would agree that in some way he has made a positive impact on your life. You know that he is a giver, not a taker. The struggles of his physical recovery are minut in comparison to the the emotional toil of possibly being unable to provide for his beautiful wife Rochelle and remain a positive force in our lives as his extended family and clients.
It’s during the difficult times like this that we all extend our hand to help. Please join us in helping Ben get back to doing what he does best….helping all of us.
