Support Bennett's Fight Against Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Hello to family, friends, faith community, and all readers!
Welcome to Bennett's GoFundMe!
On October 2nd, 2024, Bennett threw up a morning feed and continued to throw up throughout the day. He was lethargic and looking dehydrated, so Abbey and Gabe brought him to Maple Grove ER. There, they determined he needed additional testing based on his vitals. A CT scan revealed a significant mass near his brain stem.
Bennett was transferred by ambulance to Masonic Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. Bennett needed emergency neurosurgery to place a drain to relieve pressure in his brain and drain excess cerebral spinal fluid. He went from surgery to MRI for further imaging and spent the night of October 2nd intubated and sedated in the ICU.
On October 3rd, Abbey and Gabe met with the wonderful oncology team at Masonic. Per the oncology team, the mass is likely an aggressive brain cancer. A biopsy was performed, and preliminary results will come back mid-next week. Based on the discussion today, Bennett's treatment could be anywhere from 8-18 months in length.
What is needed now? Prayers, prayers, prayers. In addition to prayers, a long hospital stay often comes with many unplanned costs. Gabe's paternity leave was scheduled to end on October 6th, with a return to work starting this coming Monday. FMLA that will allow him to spend more time with Bennett and Oliver in the upcoming critical weeks will all be unpaid. Please consider donating to the family as able.
Abbey and Gabe are so incredibly thankful for all the support they have already received over the last two days. Thank you for being part of their cherished community.
