Support Benita's Care: A Family's Plea
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jessyca Weber. I am raising money for my grandmother Benita DeLeo.
On February 25th, 2025, Benita was admitted to the hospital due to gallbladder issues.
From that point she went to a rehab facility in the beginning of March and then after 2 weeks was sent home to fend for herself. Medicare and the state have been little to no help and trying to get help is like pulling teeth.
After multiple falls and ambulance calls, we decided to take her to Fox Chase where her Cancer doctors are located to see if they could take better care of her. She was admitted and then stayed there for a couple of weeks. She was Diagnosed with Liver Cancer a few years back and at this point we were told that the Cirrhosis it too advanced to do any further treatment.
From that point they admitted her to another Rehab facility where she stayed and then her insurance cut her off after about a week. She then went onto a private pay until we could figure out how to get her home and how to take care of her until we can get her assessed through the state and get her approved for 24/7 at home care. We finally got insurance to arrange a transport home, and she has been home for the past few days. With that being said, she cannot walk, nor take care of her own personal hygiene, or do anything for herself unfortunately. This has left my family paying out of pocket about $300 a week to someone to come and change her twice a day and give her birdbaths.
She had her home assessment and did get approved for 20 hours a day care for 7 days a week, but it won't be for about 3-4 weeks. This leaving us with the financial burden of having to continue to pay someone to help us take care of her the way that she needs to be taken care of and not just thrown away like the state does to basically all of our elderly.
Anyone who knows Benita knows how sweet and kind of person she is and would always welcome you with open arms if you ever needed someone or a shoulder to cry on. She needs our help now and it would mean so much to my family if you could please donate and help us while we try and take care of our mom. Noone prepares you for this and it is truly heartbreaking.
Thank you so much- From the DeLeo family
