What began as an investigation into a persistent earache led to an unexpected diagnosis. Following a tonsillectomy, Ben was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL), an aggressive form of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. After evaluation by the Lymphoma team at Massachusetts General Hospital, doctors believe the cancer was caught early. Ben will undergo R-CHOP chemotherapy with the goal of a cure.

As Ben navigates this tough diagnosis and treatment, he and his wife, Lainey will continue to keep their family-owned business, Bluerock Design, running on Martha's Vineyard. Time away from work for chemotherapy and recovery puts a financial strain on the family. Like many who are self-employed, they don't have a safety net of paid medical leave as they face medical bills, insurance deductibles, travel for treatment…all while ensuring Sebastian is cared for with love and support.
