We have set up this account for my brothers’ family. Mark and his wife Linda have a son
Ben who is 15 years old and for more than
five months has been doctoring to find
answers as to why he was struggling with his speech, having difficulty breathing and
cannot swallow.
Ben has recently been diagnosed with ALS,
also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. This
diagnosis came from an early October visit toRochester Mayo Clinic and was just recently confirmed from genetic testing.
Ben’s condition is progressing quickly and
soon he may not be able to walk or climb
stairs. In order to be ahead of that, Mark and Linda need to make a move to a handicapped
accessible home or apartment soon. On top
of all the medical bills they will now have
extra living costs.
Mark was recently contacted by Dr Neil
Shneider who is the director of the Eleanor
and Lou Gehrig ALS center in New York. He
has helped develop a drug that has shown
some good results. He would like to get Ben
on
this experimental treatment. As we all know,
experimental treatments are not covered by
insurance so this would be out of pocket for
Mark and Linda. The donations from this
account would help cover the costs of this
drug to help Ben have a better quality of life.
Ben is a special person and we thank you
from the bottom of our hearts for everything!
