Hello! I’m Ben Barnett. I’ve been a professional musician since I was 15 years old, and after nearly two decades in this business, there’s one thing that I’ve learned: Good music comes from good people. To make more music that is good, and made by me, I need a lot of money. That is what brings me here today.
I am raising money to record, produce, and release two albums. One of which has been finished for nearly a year, and is being released independently as you read this. (Once released, I will post my album in the updates section of this fundraiser.) What I now need most are the funds to pay the band. Some of my closest friends on this planet did me a huge favor and recorded my first album pro bono. And then, it lingered in my computer for nearly two years…
Many of you who know me know that I have imposter syndrome and that I’ve been struggling with it for a long time. At my worst, I often couldn’t even recognize myself as a musician. After we recorded, I struggled for months to even listen to the finished product, and that was a huge contributor to why this EP sat for so long. As time went by, and with help from good friends and family, I began to have realizations about myself and the importance of my music.
It’s because of all of these realizations that I am here today, finally releasing my first album, and raising money for my second. And, I would not have had these realizations if not for the great support of my ever-encouraging family, friends, and loved ones. I especially want to shout out Mary Thomas, Connor Waage & James Palko, my parents Jonathan & Lisa Barnett, and most importantly my bandmates on my first record Matt Knoegel, Nick Masters, Malik McLaurine, and Chris Latona; thank you all for all of your unyielding support and encouragement.
So please, donate to my GoFundMe campaign to raise money for my current and impending album. ANY AMOUNT that you can contribute is extremely helpful to us in our pursuit of releasing this music. Many of you know the difficulties involved in recording and producing music, and some of you may not, but for me the greatest difficulty is money. I cannot afford to produce this record on my own, but with your help, we can make this a reality. Please check out my Instagram or YouTube, @boneheadjazz for any links or updates regarding this music. My website, boneheadjazz.com, is in development! Thank you for your contribution. I am extremely thankful to you for taking time out of your day to read this message and to consider donating to my campaign. Thank you!
