Help Bellamy’s Fight!

Bellamy was born on 12/14/23 in Wilmington, and from the moment she was born, we knew something was wrong. She wasn’t breathing and couldn’t make a sound when she cried. After multiple consultations, doctors discovered she had a laryngeal web (tissue between her vocal cords) and a cleft palate, both making breathing and eating incredibly difficult. At just 5 days old, she had her first surgery at UNC Children’s Hospital.

Through further testing, Bellamy was diagnosed with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects 1 in 200,000 people. For Bellamy, this condition has caused developmental delays, immune system issues, speech and feeding difficulties, and ongoing airway problems.

In November 2024, Bellamy underwent another surgery to address her airway and cleft palate. Complications followed, including a severe lung infection and two collapsed lungs, requiring her to be sedated and placed on a ventilator multiple times. She’s now had 5 surgeries and 9 trips to the operating room total in her short 14 months of life, with more planned to keep her airway open.

Bellamy’s treatment includes monthly surgeries to dilate her airway, physical therapy twice a week, speech therapy, and specialized feeding plans. She’s on UNC’s "critical airway" list and continues to face complex challenges.

Despite everything, Bellamy is a fighter—sweet, strong, and full of life. Her parents, are committed to ensuring she receives the care she needs, but the mounting medical bills are overwhelming.
