Hi, my name is Randi Case and I'm fundraising to help my friend Belinda who is in serious need of assistance. Following is her post about the rented house she lives in which explains what's happening better than I could. I apologize for the long read but it's the best way to show my friend's urgency.
"How do I begin?
Life is all about ups and downs and what is most valuable in life is how we deal with it and accept what may come. Sometimes what we might assume would be a nightmare, actually happens and we face it. But strangely one feels peace of mind. Then we realize how much energy has been waisted. Some events affect life good or bad temporarily, and sometimes forever. Knowing the difference takes practice. That’s why God gives us these lessons to learn. Some of us are quicker learners than others. I learned pretty early in life how much easier it is to live in an attitude of prayer and open mindedness.
I find it difficult to admit to anyone when I am struggling. I appreciate help and kindness but I never ask for it. I never want to cause others any worry or stress. I believe in little white lies. (Alexa can give you the definition) One of my favorite advantages of being old and living alone is being content with my little space in the world and never having to be a nuisance to anyone. I have been so blessed.
I have the greatest landlord in the world. She has taken care of me for 11 years. Giving me new floors, completely restoring all the AC ducts in the attic, repairing hot water tank, dripping faucets, and replacing the garbage disposal. She has dropped by to bring me air filters and fire extinguishers for inside the house. I have been as much as 3 months behind in rent and she has always given me time to catch up. I am grateful she has that confidence to know I will, and I always have. In 11 years she has never raised my rent. She is an extremely rare beautiful bird.
There has been a bit of a catastrophe here in the home I live in. Basically a slight sinkhole under the foundation. Water pipes pulled apart creating indoor water falls. The water was shut off quickly so not exactly a flood. Though the back wall has cracked all the way through in places, and floors in back of the house dropped a couple of inches, completely separating both tubs and tiles from the walls. Everything is working in the house except for there’s no water. The insurance agent was here in less than 24 hours. Sally has the best coverage there is but typically ground shift is exempt from most policies. The repair will be very expensive. Even if the construction can be done it will be 3-4 months. Possibly too expensive to be reasonable for the age and value of structure. I feel so bad that Sally feels so bad. I hope she believes me that whatever she has to do, that I understand and support her choice. I believe there will be unforeseen blessing out of this as vague as it seems. I will not abandon my cat for any reason. So I will spend as much time as possible here with her to ease her trauma. I am sure I have a couple of friends that will let me come and shower now and then. I can still use my toaster oven and micro wave to cook and lots of food in my fridge and freezer.
Prayers please and thank you"
Excerpt from her latest update:
"Well it official now. I’ll be packing all summer, making lots of trips to Goodwill and giving lots of things away to friends and friends of friends. My rented house has been sold. I have to be out by the end of August. "
Belinda NEEDS help. Rental prices in Pahrump are very expensive. She works as a Para Pro with special needs kids at a local school. No work during summer months so her budget is tapped out. She will need first, last + deposit for a new rental plus some moving expenses such as a moving truck.
Every dollar raised will go to her.
Thank you for reading my lengthy post.
