My sister Belen Lugo Ausburn has always been the heart of our family. She is my best friend and, along with our other sister Olga Lugo Grisham, one of the kindest people I have ever met. Belen is never one to ask for help—she is the person who is always there for others, offering support and compassion without expecting anything in return. Her selflessness and hard work inspire everyone around her, and she means the world to me.

On Christmas Day, Belen was admitted to the hospital and remained there until December 30th. Although she has been discharged, she is unable to return to work for several weeks. She left the hospital with a Midline in her arm and will need to continue IV antibiotics for 14 days. Our niece, Krystle Lugo, who is a registered nurse, will be coming to my home in Tallahassee, Florida, to help administer her antibiotics and support her recovery. During this time, Belen will need help covering her rent and other essential expenses while she focuses on healing.
