Support Belen in Purchasing a New Waveski

We are aiming to raise funds to support Belen Vasquez in purchasing a waveski and paddle. Belen is 23 years old from Chile and competed in her first competition in Huanchaco in June 2025. Despite only having surfed on a waveski for a short time, trying it for the first time in December 2024 on a loaned board from Felipe Belmar, she braved the large swells and strong sweep of Huanchaco. Prior to this competition she had only been able to practice on a plastic waveski, which speaks volumes of her natural talent in the water. Already, she hopes on being able to attend the Latin American Cup in Argentina in November and the World Titles next year in Huanchaco.

During this competition she was lucky enough to be able to borrow a paddle and waveski from Jaime Sabogal Suji, a local to Huanchaco. While this was extremely generous on Jaime's part, Belen needs a waveski that is significantly smaller in order for her to be able to progress on the wave and with learning how to roll. Unfortunately, this would not be possible for her on a waveski so large.

We are seeking $1,600 USD ($2,500 AUD) to cover the cost of a new waveski that is suitable for Belen, a paddle, accessories, and transportation costs to Chile. Every little bit counts, and as our sport is so small, Belen and the entire Chilean team would be incredibly grateful for any contribution made. It is incredibly important to support all women in our sport, and the first step comes with ensuring access to the right equipment. Please help us in supporting this talented young lady in being able to pursue competitions as the only female Chilean waveski surfer.

Nuestro objetivo es recaudar fondos para ayudar a Belén Vásquez a comprar un waveski y un remo. Belén, de 23 años y originaria de Chile, compitió por primera vez en Huanchaco en junio de 2025. A pesar de haber surfeado waveski durante poco tiempo, probándolo por primera vez en diciembre de 2024 con una tabla prestada por Felipe Belmar, desafió las fuertes olas de Huanchaco. Si bien gracias a esto pudo entrar al agua, tomar algunas olas y vivir una gran experiencia, Belén necesita contar con un waveski propio y adecuado a su tamaño, considerablemente más pequeño para poder progresar en la ola y aprender realmente a surfear. Desafortunadamente, esto no sería posible para ella con un waveski tan grande. Necesitamos $1,600 USD ($2,500 AUD) para cubrir el costo de un nuevo y adecuado esquí acuático para Belén, un remo, accesorios y transporte a Chile. Toda pequeña contribución cuenta, y como nuestro deporte es tan pequeño, Belén y todo el equipo chileno estarían inmensamente agradecidos por cualquier contribución. Apoyar a todas las mujeres en nuestro deporte es fundamental, y el primer paso es asegurar el acceso al equipo adecuado.
