Support Bedford Yates' Kidney Transplant Journey

Hi everyone! My name is Hannah, and I am the only daughter of Bedford and Nerissa Yates. I had made a GoFundMe for my dad a few years ago, but as most people in our circle know, medical appointments are quite expensive, and we have been having to go to them a lot more frequently in the last year.

My dad, Bedford, just turned 62 and is in stage 5 kidney failure. We are on the active transplant list of University of Virginia and University of Kentucky; we are working to be approved for the University of Tennessee (we have been told orally that we are on the list but have yet to get the "official" seal of approval for it.) My mom and I typically do bake sales to try to raise the money for dad's appointments, but recently it has been too cold for us to do so. We also try not to leave dad alone for too long at a time in case he needs us, or we get a call from one of the Universities saying it's time to head that way! We have been blessed to this point that he has not had to be placed on dialysis or that he has been too sick to stay home. He does have insurance but as everyone knows, insurance doesn't pay for everything, especially the lodging and travel expenses that we will accrue while we are in the recovery period post-transplant.
