Our dear friend, Becky (Duquette) Folino, is one of the most giving, generous, and loving people I know. She has dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a caregiver to the elderly not just as a job, but as a true passion. Becky also volunteers countless hours in our community, serving as Vice President of Berkshire Helping Hands, a non-profit that supports survivors of fires and other disasters. For the past five years, she has been a source of hope and comfort to so many people in need.
Recently, Becky faced a terrifying and life-threatening health crisis. After contracting COVID, she developed double pneumonia, partially collapsed lungs, and dangerously low oxygen levels. She became so weak that she couldn’t stand, call for help, or even take a full breath. In the midst of this nightmare, her loyal dog Atlas sensed something was wrong. Atlas nudged her, pushed on her chest, and refused to leave her side until she managed to whisper, “Atlas, go wake up Daddy.” Atlas raced down the hallway, barking with a panic Becky had never heard before, waking Bryan and getting Becky the emergency help she desperately needed. Becky truly believes she would not be here today if it weren’t for Atlas’s quick actions.
After a long hospital stay, Becky is finally home, but she is on strict bed rest and requires multiple medications and treatments. Her doctors will reassess her condition in a few weeks to determine when she can return to work. Unfortunately, Becky has been out of work for six weeks with no income. Because she works privately, she has no paid time off, no disability pay, and no financial safety net. She has already cashed in the spare change she’d been saving for Christmas and is at the end of her resources. Becky still needs help with food, toiletries, medications, utility bills, and pet supplies while she focuses on healing and regaining her strength.
If you’re able, please consider donating to help Becky cover basic living expenses while she heals. Every dollar helps her breathe a little easier—literally and emotionally—as she works her way back to full health. If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser means the world. Thank you for supporting Becky during one of the hardest moments of her life. Let’s help her get back on her feet—with Atlas faithfully by her side.
