Support Becky’s Journey of Healing
Donation protected
In early February, Rebecca (Becky) was blow drying her hair when she lost use of her right arm. After she arrived at the hospital, she lost her ability to walk. A few days later she had surgery because she had discs that were pressing on her spinal cord. She has been in the hospital and nursing homes, fighting to regain mobility and get approval from her insurance for therapy services. Rebecca does not have long-term care insurance, but her health insurer allowed her to stay at Brunswick Point for two weeks. Her progress and outlook was hopeful but recently was denied again for coverage. While she is grateful to be able to live with family, she needs the professional care of a physical therapist and experts from a rehab program. She will need therapy and assistance with everyday tasks for at least the remainder of 2021. Today Rebecca is still unable to walk. She can barely move her knees and feet. While her hand movement and strength are slowly returning, she still has no grip strength. Tetraplegia is the most severe form of paralysis and it can take months to years for mobility to return, some functions may never return. The doctors are not sure what caused the nerve damage and recommend continued physical therapy.
Will you join us in supporting Rebecca’s rehabilitation needed so she can be independent? All donations and prayers are greatly appreciated right now. Any donations will go mostly towards physical therapy, and then towards bills as she has been unable to work since the incident. Thank you for your support!
