Support Becky Wegner in her battle against Cancer

Hello everyone! Well, let me tell you what has happened.

I just graduated from Liberty University with a Master of Divinity: Biblical Languages emphasis. I was all set to get a job and move into ministry.

But last December, I was diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer. It will require surgery, and possibly chemotherapy and radiation (they won't know until after they do the surgery). It is called "Grade 2," not to be confused with "Stage 2." They will not know the stage of cancer until they perform the surgery: a complete hysterectomy.

Also in December, I lost my job. I was "calling in sick too much" with the very cancer symptoms that I had. I have been surviving on Instacart delivery driving to get by. But I am at a point now where I am too sick to do delivery driving. I am very anemic, I get exhausted easily, and I can't lift heavy things. I cannot get a new job until the surgery is performed. It would be a bad thing for me to ask a new employer to cover my surgery with their health insurance, plus I would need six weeks off. (Nobody is going to go for that.)

University of Virginia Hospital is doing the surgery in Charlottesville, VA. The surgery is scheduled for June 17th, and there is a six-week recovery period.

I am starting this GoFundMe to help pay with all expenses. I am seeking help with rent, power bill, regular bills (phone, gasoline, etc.), as well as medical expenses. I already have two bills from UVA, one for $1,477.60 just for the consult and a biopsy, and one for $760 for the CT scan yesterday. I am in the process of applying for Medicaid to help as well. Social Security Disability takes six months minimum, up to 3 years, and attorneys, so that is not going to help in the short term.

I do not wish to reschedule the surgery, but if it gets down to it, if it gets down to losing my apartment, I will cancel the surgery, live with the cancer, and go to work paying the bills. This is where I am at right now. I really don't have any other choice: if I don't have my apartment, I don't have a place to recover from the surgery.

Many of you reading this came and helped when my mother died. I have been through so much since starting graduate school. It has literally broken me. The late great Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a martyr for the Christian faith, once said, "When Christ bids a man to follow Him, He bids him to come and die." Truer words were never spoken. Following Jesus to Liberty University has changed my life and shattered me into a million pieces. I have lost everything following Jesus. All I can tell you is, following Jesus is worth it. Even all this brokenness. I lost my career job, I lost my pension, I lost any children or husband God would have granted me. I lost my father, I lost my mother, I have lost friends, I have lost family. I STILL put my faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. Because He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. And I know either way, whether I have to postpone the surgery and live with the cancer, or whether I am able to pay the bills and have the surgery, no matter what, I know my Lord will provide for me.
