I am a friend and former colleague of Rebecca "Becky" Spencer. Everyone who knows her, knows that Becky is a bright ray of sunshine and is always smiling or laughing. The pictures included here are just a few examples of that.
At the start of the pandemic, she left the workforce and spent a few years at home taking care of her family. She'd had to go to the ER on multiple occasions recently and was scheduled for tests to determine what was causing all the issues she was having. Those tests had to be postponed when she contracted Covid. It has now been confirmed that she is most unfortunately facing stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Cancer has spread very quickly to other areas of her body, and she is fighting hard to process this news and deal with an overwhelming flurry of medical teams, tests, appointments, treatments, etc. There is no 'cure', but they can treat the different areas and try to give her relief and quality of life as best as possible. She spent several weeks at MD Anderson being tested and receiving a few initial treatments. That made her body weak, and she's now in transitional care trying to regain strength and weight and continue with the next steps in treatment. It has not been easy, as we can all imagine, to share this news and know how to get through these days, but I can tell you from having talked to her and seen her in person, that she is still hopeful, a fighter, and paying attention to every detail.
Becky has been a wonderful friend and colleague to many and a loving mother, grandmother, and daughter to her family. I'd like to ask that her friends and those who love her rally around and be there for Becky now - as she goes through these very difficult and painful times - with our financial and emotional support. Her medical care and needs are many at this moment and as such, the financial aspect has also quickly become overwhelming.
Thank you for your care and concern and for reaching out in any way that you are able. Every thought, prayer, good wishes, positive energy, dollar, etc., is greatly appreciated by her and her family. Anything we can do to help ease her trials will help!
God bless all who read this.
