Support Becky Barca-Tinus' Cancer Treatment

Anyone who has spent time with Becky Barca-Tinus—whether in violin lessons, at the Chilmark School or anywhere else—knows what an absolute gift to this island community she is. Beloved by countless families, parents have watched her teach their children violin with such love, skill, patience, and grace for countless years, seeing them through school and beyond with a truly unique dedication. Her husband, Mike Tinus, in kind, has ushered countless island kids through high school music, serving both as band teacher and mentor for many. On an island filled with unique, special and honorable community members, it is hard to think of two that have lent themselves more thoroughly to so many people. It is hard to think of two that do not merit an outright tidal wave of support in their hour of need—and that hour is now.

Becky is now in the beginning stages of treatment for an aggressive form of breast cancer that has come on fast and furious. She will be receiving treatment at Dana Farber in Boston, and they are needing to commute from the island for treatment. We are raising money to assist them in covering the considerable travel expenses that we are all too familiar with living on the island.

Our prayers and wishes are with Becky, Mike and their family as they traverse this challenging terrain. May all the love, support and encouragement they have both bestowed upon this community come back to them a hundred times over.
